Vilas Gaikwad is born in Chandkhed village located in Pune district. Always surrounded by the rural environment and natures beauty he developed the interest in drawing at very young age. He loves to create statues of lord Ganesha , bulls’s statues from sand . People appreciated his work a lot. In his childhood he scribbled lines on wall drawn paintings of gods and goddesses.
When he was a kid he once drew a picture of a god on a temple’s wall. When his mother found out and saw the picture she sent him to pune to take education of drawing . For further studies while he was taking exam from j.j. College of arts, Mumbai. he got really inspired by Mr. Almelkar , Mr. Dhurandhar , Madhav Satavlekar and Rajbahadur Mhatre’s work as well. And he is very fond of sketches.
In the period of taking his high school education his art works were displayed in Jahangir art gallery, Mumbai. Art director Late Mr. Muralidhar Nangre, Mr. Dinkar Dhopte, Mr. Dattatray Khataokar, Mr. Jayprakash jagtap, Mr. Sudhakar Chavhan, Late Mr. Vijay Kadam had given their support and guidance. He had organized nearly 29 exhibitions of art teachers.
