शबरी पार्वती व श्रियाळाची कथा

अध्याय १४ वा
सूत म्हणाले ,सज्जनहो !
एके दिवशी शिव पार्वती कैलासावर सारीपाट खेळत असताना नारदांचे आगमन झाले .त्यांनी त्या दोघांना पण लवून खेळण्यास सांगीतले .ते मान्य क़रून ती दोघ खेळू लागली .त्या वेळी पार्वतीचीच सरशी होत गेली .आणि शंकरांना आपले व्याघ्रांबर,गजचर्म,आयुधे ,भूषणे व कौपीनही गमवावी लागली .भगवान शंकर दिगम्बर झाले .त्या वेळी त्यांचे सर्वस्व हरण झालेले पाहून नारद हसून म्हणाले ‘,देवा हे काय ? एका स्री ने तुम्हाला हरवले? तुमचा महिमा फ़ुकट आहे .आता भक्तांना काय सांगाल ?’ते ऐकून रूसलेले भगवान शंकर लपून बसले .कोणालाही त्यांचा ठाव ठिकाना लागेना .पार्वतीने क़सून शोधले तेव्हा कैलासनाथ हिमालयात एकांतात स्वानन्दसुखांत रममाण झाले होते .पार्वतीने भिल्लिणीच्या रूपात त्यांच्या जवळ जाऊन नृत्य गायन केले . नेत्रकटाक्षांनी त्यांना घायाळ केले .तेव्हा त्यांनी तिला विवाह विषयी विचारले असता तिने पर्वतीचा विषय काढला .त्यावर त्यांनी ,’मला तीचे तोंडही पहायचे नाहीं .असे सांगीतले तेव्हा ,’विवाहासाठी माझ्या घरी चला असे सांगून तिने मोठया खुबीने शंकरांना कैलासावर नेले व तेथे आपले खरे स्वरूप प्रगट केले . त्यावेळी तीचे प्रेम पाहून शंकरांनी हसून तिला जवळ घेतले .
पूढील कथा सांगताना सूत म्हणाले ,नारदा कड़ून कांतीनगराचा राजा श्रियाळ याच्या धार्मिकतेची प्रशंसा ऐकून शंकर त्याची परीक्षा घेण्यासाठी वेष बदलून त्याच्या द्वारी गेले व म्हणाले ,इच्छा भोजन देणार असाल तरच आत येतो अन्यथा तुमचे सत्व घेऊन मी परत जातो .त्यावेळी त्यांचे म्हणणे मान्य श्रियाळ व त्याची पत्नी चांगुणा यांनी त्यांना घरात घेऊन त्यांची इच्छा विचारली . ते म्हणाले , मला नरमांसाचे भोजन हवें आहे व तेही तुमच्या चिलया बाळाचे .ते शिजवताना तुम्हीं रडाल तर मी निघून जाईन . ते ऐकून ती दोघे बधिर झाली ,पण तरीही सत्व राखण्यासाठी सर्व माया दूर करुन त्यांनी आपल्या पुत्राला मारून अतिथीला भोजन वाढले ,तेव्हा निपुत्रिकाच्या घरी मी जेवत नाहीं असे म्हणून अतिथीने चांगूणेला बाळाला हाक मारण्यास सांगीतले .तिने त्याला हाक मारताच तिचा पुत्र अंगणातून धावत आला तेव्हा प्रसन्न झालेल्या शंकरांनी मायारूप टाकून त्या सर्वांना दर्शन दिले आणि श्रियाळ व चांगुना यांस दिव्य विमानातून शिवलोकी नेले.
